FLYBOYS BEAT FORDAM 8-3

Bronx NY

Ryan MacDougall belted a 3 run home run in the top half of the 4th inning to lead the Dayton Flyers to an 8-3 win over the Fordham Rams at Houlihan Field Sunday afternoon. It was a game the Flyers needed to win.
Trailing 1-0 going into the top of the 3rd, Rylan Lujo hit a slow roller to short and beat the throw at first. Then Aiden Zorn singled to left center and Lujo scampered all the way to third base. Mason Dobie would then ground out to second scoring Lujo and that tied it up at 1 apiece.   Ryan MacDougall would step to the plate and singled to right scoring Zorn and the Flyers led 2-1.
Then in the 4th inning the Flyers would blow the game wide open scoring 6 times for an 8-1 lead.
With one out in the fourth, Aiden Heberlie would walk and then steal second. Ty Mainolfi would also walk putting runners at first and second. A wild pitch would move the runners up to second and Heberlie would come home with just 1 out. 3-1 Flyers
Mike Dimartini would then hit a shot to left field scoring Mainolfi and that made it 4-1. DiMartini would then steal second. Lujo would come up and groud out to short thus moving Dimartini  to third. Aiden Zorn would then single to left scoring Dimartini and it was 5-1 Flyboys. Mason Doble walked and that would bring up Ryan MacDougall. He would blast a 3 run home run to right giving the Flyers an 8-1 lead. It was MacDougall’s third homer in 2 games.
Fordham would come back in the bottom of the seventh scoring a couple of runs, thus the final of 8-3
With the win, the Flyers are in a four way tie for sixth with 3 home games left vs St. Bonavenure beginning Thursday at Woerner Field at AES Ohio stadium.
