Women’s Basketball prep for season opener
October 23, 2015
Dayton, Ohio – First year head coach Victoria Jones (took over halfway through last season) is prepping for Sinclair Women’s Basketball season opener on Monday November 2nd against UC Clermont College and home opener on Monday November 9th against Cedarville University. The Pride were 19-12 (8-6) last season which was good enough for a third place tie with Cincinnati State in the OCCAC, but first place is what every team strives for.
Sinclair is projected to place fourth this season in the OCCAC Women’s Basketball preseason coach’s poll with Owens projected to repeat as champions.
Top returner, Alona Skipper, finished fourth on the team last season with 9.4 points per game. Also, Jones was able to recruit Madison Schroeder (6’1”) who averaged 7.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game for NCAA Division II Ursuline College last season.
This season is looking to be an exciting one for our Women Tartans. The schedule includes a “Pink Game” for breast cancer awareness on February 17th against The Ohio State University-Lima at 5:30 P.M. Sophomore night for the Women’s Basketball Team will be held on February 27th against Edison Community College at 1:00 P.M.
