The University of Dayton volleyball team has been chosen to repeat as the Atlantic 10 Conference Champions in the leagues annual preseason poll announced today ahead of the start of the 2015 season. The poll was conducted by the conference’s 10 head volleyball coaches.

UD received 8 first place votes and tallied 88 points in the poll, putting the Flyers ahead of second-place George Washington. The Colonials registered two first place votes and had 79 points in the poll.

Dayton will open the season by competing in the Cyclone Invitational this weekend at Iowa State University. They will be squaring off against North Dakota, Marquette and host Iowa State.

43 Urbana Blue Knights Recognized

Urbana Ohio  The Urbana University Athletic Department announced today that 43 Blue Knight student-athletes received an NCAA D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award last season. To be eligible for this prestigious award, candidates must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. In addition, each candidate must have completed a minimum of two years ( four semesters) of college level work at a two year and/or four year institution.

“We take great pride in the success of our student-athletes here at Urbana, both academically and athletically,” UU director of Athletics Larry Cox said. “These awards emphasize the tremendous level of dedication that our staff and student-athletes have towards meeting our goals of excellence in the classroom.”
